A few members of Sadsad Tamesis Legal and Accountancy Firm (STLAF) recently attended “Embracing Openness: Advancing Academic Development Cooperation, Strengthening Philippine-Belgian Relations,” a seminar held at Ateneo de Manila University.
The discussions touched on academic partnerships and opportunities between the Philippines and Belgium, offering valuable perspectives on how education and collaboration can bring two countries closer together. Yet what stood out most was the space the event created for genuine connection, a reminder that relations between nations are not built on paper agreements alone, but on the people who choose to engage, listen, and learn from one another.
It was a refreshing chance to step outside our usual circles and meet individuals from different backgrounds and cultures, and to discover that despite our differences, there is always common ground to be found and bonds to be built. Conversations flowed well beyond formalities, and what our team walked away with were not just insights, but memories and connections that made the experience truly worthwhile.
Beyond the meaningful topics discussed, what connections have you made from attending events like this that you still carry with you today?
At the end of the day, moments like these remind us that growth comes both from what we learn and from who we meet along the way, and this seminar gave us plenty of both.
STLAF is grateful to Ateneo de Manila University for hosting such a thoughtful and engaging gathering, and we look forward to more opportunities to learn, connect, and grow alongside the wider community.
